Indianapolis Circuit overview
Indianapolis Moto3 Circuit

Home of the Indy 500 and one of the most famous circuits in motorsport, ‘The Brickyard’ became an official MotoGP venue for the first time in 2008 following some modification and homologation by the FIM.

Celebrating its centenary in 2009, the circuit is just 8km from the centre of town and the Red Bull Indianapolis GP is the second visit of the MotoGP calendar to the US.

Although perhaps more famous for car racing, the Speedway’s first event in 1909 comprised seven motorcycle races. However, the planned two-day event was cancelled before the first day was complete through concerns over the suitability of the track’s surface.

The 4.218 infield circuit, which uses no part of the banking, was modified in 2008 for MotoGP and comprises eleven left turns and six rights.
